Until this week, Champaign, IL heavy shoegaze vets Hum last performed at the 2019 edition of Dia De Los Deftones, but that changed on Friday night (5/15) when they headlined the first night of Nothing’s Slide Away Festival at Brooklyn Paramount. It was also their first show since the release of their excellent 2020 album Inlet, and they gave three songs off that, “Waves,” “Step Into You,” and “Shapeshifter,” their live debuts.

Bɾyan St. Pere, the drummer, passed away in 2021, and Hum also has Jason Gerken ( Shiner, etc. ), who previously subbed for them on their 2015 tour and also subbed for them this time around. See below for their setlist and attendee-taken film from their collection.

British shoegaze vets Chapterhouse have also recently returned to action, and their Slide Away shows mark the start of their first North American tour in 16 years. Most of their setlist pulled from their 1991 debut Whirlpool, whose 35th anniversary they’re celebrating, and you can see that below as well.

Night one of Slide Away 2026 in NYC also included sets from Nothing (who are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their second LP, Tired of Tomorrow), Lovesliescrushing, Bleary Eyed, and Frankie Rose. See pictures from the whole night by Ben Stas below.
